– Tori was unable to go through with her plans for an abortion. When she broke down and told her parents that she is pregnant with Zane’s baby, they convinced her to move back home.
– Brent told Travis about Rosie’s role in cracking Diego Barrera’s drug ring and how she kept Caleb from serious legal trouble. Touched by his ex’s actions, Travis texted her to wish her a happy Thanksgiving.
– Natalie brought Peter to the Fishers’ so that he could spend time with his family on Thanksgiving. Spencer arrived in time to see Natalie talking with Jason and listened in on their conversation.
As he hides behind the shrubs that line his grandmother’s driveway, with the dark November sky hanging above, Spencer Ragan holds his breath and listens to the conversation taking place on the front porch of the house.
“I know you’re on the birth certificate right now, but the court-ordered DNA test will change that,” Natalie Bishop is saying. “And once that happens, you don’t have a lot of legal stake in this case, Jason. But if you and I work together — if we work something out — then maybe we stand a chance of keeping Peter out of Loretta’s clutches. What do you say?”
Spencer’s heartbeat quickens as he waits for his uncle to respond.
“I don’t know,” Jason finally says. “What does that even mean?”
“I don’t want to cut you out of Peter’s life,” Natalie says. “That isn’t in either of your best interests.”
A maddeningly long beat of silence passes between them. Spencer attempts to listen even more closely.
“Just think about it,” Natalie adds at last. “If we work out something fair with our lawyers, it shows that we can provide stability for Peter — and it gives Spencer and Loretta one less weakness to target.”
“Maybe you’re right,” Jason says quietly. “Look, we should get inside.” His tone changes completely as he says, presumably to Peter, “Are you ready to go in and have some turkey?”
“Have fun tonight,” Natalie says to the boy. “Mommy loves you, okay?”
“Say goodbye to Mommy,” Jason tells Peter.
Spencer seethes as he listens to their goodbyes. Jason promised not to try and screw him over, and now he’s actually considering joining forces with the woman who deceived him for years?
“You assholes are not getting away with this,” Spencer mutters as he listens to the front door closing and then sees Natalie’s car pull off down the street.

Inside the house, the Fishers’ Thanksgiving celebration is in full swing. Tori Gray is fixing herself a glass of club soda with a splash of cranberry juice when she feels another person looming behind her. She turns to see her teenage cousin standing there, nervously knitting his fingers together.
“Hey, Tori,” Marcus says timidly.
She picks up her glass. “Hey.”
“I wanted to…” He shuffles his feet for a moment. “Say I’m sorry for telling your dad that I saw you at that doctor’s office. I just thought…”
“It’s okay,” she says. “I appreciate you being worried about me.”
She notices him glancing at her black tunic top, which is hiding the ever-growing evidence of her pregnancy.
“Everything’s fine now,” she continues. “Or it will be. Thanks for looking out for me.”
Marcus finally cracks a grin. “Thanks for not being mad.”
“Thanks for looking out for me. But can you do me a favor?”
“Sure. What is it?”
“Don’t tell anyone else where you saw me or anything,” Tori says. “I’d like to keep this private.”
He nods, relief apparent on his face. “You got it.”

“Look who’s here!” Jason announces as he shuts the door and carries Peter into the living room.
Paula lets out a gasp and comes running over. “My little Peter!”
Various family members and friends turn around to look as Paula smothers her newly discovered great-grandson. Tim takes a few tentative steps in their direction.
“Hey, there, buddy,” Tim says softly as he kneels down.
Peter stares at him for a moment and then points. “Uncle Tim.”
Tim pushes a smile across his face, unable to ignore the strange aching in his chest that makes him yearn to have Peter understand their true relationship.
“Happy Thanksgiving, Peter,” he says instead.
“You look so handsome,” Paula tells the toddler as she helps him out of his puffy blue coat.
“Thanks,” Jason tells his mother as he takes Peter’s hand. Then he looks at Tim with a somber expression. “Sorry if this is weird.”
Tim shakes his head. “It’s not. Or– it is, a little, but I’m just grateful that we get to spend the holiday with him. The rest will work out in time. I don’t want it to be weird for you.”
As Jason purses his lips, the front door slowly opens with a slight creak.
“Hey, everyone,” Spencer says as he sticks his head through the opening. “Happy Thanksgiving.”
“Happy Thanksgiving,” Paula says as she approaches, ready to take his coat from him. Spencer hands her the bottle of Malbec that he brought from home as he greets her in return.
“You’re just in time,” Tim tells his son as he indicates Peter, who is now wandering off toward Molly and Conrad.
“She actually brought him,” Spencer says flatly.
Jason moves toward Tim and Spencer before speaking in a quiet voice: “I know this is strange for everyone, but what’s important tonight is that we get to spend time with Peter.”
“I’m not going to make it difficult,” Spencer says. “But he’s my son. I want to have Thanksgiving with him.”
“And you will,” Tim says. “That’s why we’re all here.”
Spencer glares at Jason. “As long as we’re all on the same page.”
“We are,” Jason responds.
“I hope so,” Spencer says. “I’m going to go say hi to Samantha and Tori. Happy Thanksgiving.”
He moves off, leaving Jason and Tim to exchange a concerned look.

“That was some of your best work, Travis,” Brent Taylor proclaims as he tosses his napkin onto his plate. He sits at the head of his dining room table, which is covered in the remains of a holiday feast.
“Yeah. My compliments to the chef,” Landon Esco adds before letting out a hearty belch.
Tempest Banks, who is seated next to him, smacks him in the chest. “You are nasty!”
“Sorry. Couldn’t help myself,” Landon says with a devious twinkle in his eye.
Claire Fisher reaches for her glass of red wine. “That was excellent, Travis. Thank you.”
Travis shrugs. “Thanks for letting us take over your house, Brent.”
“It’s my pleasure,” Brent says as he places his hand over Claire’s. “It’s nice to be able to do this. Especially together.”
Claire smiles at him. “Yeah. It really is.”
“So how long do we have to wait to bust into those pies?” Tempest asks.
“I’m gonna go ahead and say it’s dessert o’clock right around… now,” Landon says.
“You guys go make a pot of coffee, and then we can get started,” Claire tells them.
Landon and Tempest burst out of their chairs and head toward the kitchen.
Travis looks across the table at his mother and Brent and then lifts an eyebrow. “Are you guys sure you want to trust Landon with a coffee machine?”
“It’ll either be fine or make for a good story,” Brent says. They all laugh, and then Travis feels a buzzing in the pocket of his jeans. He reaches in and pulls out his iPhone.
“Everything all right?” Claire asks.
“Oh. Uh, yeah.” Still, the name on the phone’s screen causes Travis’s pulse to race. Rosie Jimenez.
He recalls the simple text that he sent her earlier: Happy Thanksgiving, Rosie. He wasn’t sure if she would respond, but he felt as if he had to try.
He uses his thumb to unlock the phone. The message thread pops up on his screen.
Thanks, Travis – happy Thanksgiving to you too. Are you with the family?
Travis glances down the table, where Claire and Brent are talking quietly. He types out a quick response:
With my mom and Brent. He told me what you did for Caleb. Thank you for that.
Only a few seconds pass before Rosie’s next text arrives:
It was the right thing to do. Glad it worked out.
Travis steels himself, turning over the wording in his head for a moment, but the combination of his optimism and a few glasses of wine compel him to send the message:
Maybe we could have a drink soon and you can fill me in?
His body tenses as soon as he sends it, but luckily he doesn’t have to wait too long for her answer.
That sounds good. Just tell me when’s good for you.
An involuntary grin moves over Travis’s face as he reads the words.

In Paula’s dining room, Spencer slides over to the bar and pours himself a generous glass of wine. He takes a gulp, pushing past the complex spiciness of the red, and then adds a bit more to his glass. As he turns away from the bar, he finds his cousin waiting for him.
“Liquid courage?” Tori asks with a knowing lift of her eyebrows.
Spencer exhales and glances around the gathering. “You have no idea.”
They quietly watch from a distance as Paula nuzzles her nose against Peter’s.
“Here, come with me,” Tori says. Spencer obliges and follows her out of the dining room, down a short hallway, and into the den, which is empty.
“Are you feeling weird about the whole Peter thing?” she asks as she sinks onto one of the plush sofas.
“Weird doesn’t begin to describe it.” Spencer seats himself on the other couch. “That’s my son, and it’s Thanksgiving, and I’m supposed to pretend to only be this vaguely interested relative.”
“No one’s trying to keep you away from him, are they?”
He sets his jaw as he recalls Natalie and Jason’s secret conversation.
“I don’t know what anyone’s thinking,” he says. “All I want is a fair shot.”
“Then it’s good that you have a lawyer and everything. It doesn’t sound like anyone should be trusting Natalie.”
“To say the least.”
“Uncle Jason gets how hard this is for you. It’s complicated, but he doesn’t want to shut you out.”
Spencer sips his wine thoughtfully and barely manages to bite his tongue; it seems wisest to keep what he overheard to himself for the time being.
“Complicated doesn’t even begin to describe it,” he finally says. “Peter is my son. I missed out on two years of his life already. I’m not missing out on more.”
“You won’t have to,” Tori says softly.
“We don’t know that. But I’m not going down without a fight. I didn’t know who my real parents were until I was an adult, and that was only because my mother wanted to make Claire suffer. I’m never going to get that time back.”
She nods compassionately, uncertain how to respond.
“No one gave me a choice in this,” Spencer continues his rant. “Natalie decided to shut me out of my own child’s life because it was convenient for her. That isn’t fair. I had every right to know Peter was mine, whether it suited her or not.”
He notices the way that Tori sits up sharply, as if hit suddenly by something.
“What?” he asks.
She appears a little dazed as she says, “Nothing. Just thinking.”
“I appreciate you checking in,” Spencer tells her.
“I always have your back, Spencer. I know we didn’t grow up together, but sometimes I think you get me better than most of my family does.”
“Same. So I hope you understand where I’m coming from now.”
“I do,” she says, clutching her glass of cranberry juice and club soda between both palms. “More than you even know.”

“Dinner time!” Molly announces to those gathered in the living room. They follow her back to the dining room, where Paula has stationed herself at the head of the table. Others swarm around, jockeying for chairs and place settings.
“I need to sit next to Peter! He’s my brother!” Sophie shrieks.
“Peter has to sit in the high-chair,” Bree tells her gently.
“Then I’m sitting next to him!” Sophie declares as she tries to elbow Jason out of the way.
“If you sit next to him, you have to help feed him,” Jason reminds his daughter.
“Fine!” Sophie parks herself in the chair nearest the high-chair at the end of the table opposite Paula. Over her head, Jason trades concerned looks with Tim.
“Why don’t you sit on Peter’s other side and help Sophie?” Conrad whispers to Bree. The teen nods in agreement and takes that seat.
“Where should we sit?” Tori asks as she and Spencer return to the dining room.
“Wherever you land, save me a spot,” Matt says, appearing at the entrance to the kitchen with a large platter of carved turkey.
“Everything smells incredible,” Mia Davich comments.
Her husband, seated to her right, leans forward and catches Paula’s eye. “Thanks so much for including us.”
“You’re family,” Paula replies with a warm smile. “We’re so happy to have you in King’s Bay.”
Everyone else takes a few moments to find their places.
“Before we begin eating, I’d like to say a few words,” Paula says, although all eyes have already shifted her way. “First, let’s all thank Matt for toiling in the kitchen all day. We’re lucky to have such an incredible chef prepare our holiday meal.”
As guests call out their appreciation and lightly applaud, Matt dips his head as he blushes.
“My pleasure,” he says. “I’m just carrying on Bill’s tradition.”
Sarah, who is stationed by his side, squeezes his hand. “Thank you.”
“Bill would approve,” Paula says, her throat tightening with emotion at the mention of her late husband. “As much as it pains me not to have him here with us, I know he’d be so happy to have everyone here, under one roof, coming together to give thanks for all the wonderful things that we have in our lives. This hasn’t been the easiest of years, but it’s our love and support for one another that will get us through the trying times.”
“Hear, hear!” Tim says.
Paula picks up her wine glass. “Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.”
“Happy Thanksgiving!” everyone echoes as they clink their glasses and joy fills the house.

“Success!” Landon pronounces with a fist pump.
“All you did was start it,” Tempest says as they listen to the coffeemaker begin to make chugging noises. “It could still blow up or something.”
“Nah. It’s gonna be good.”
Landon hops up onto the counter and sits there, swinging his legs loosely.
“So what’s up with you?” he asks. “Travis said you and Sam went out.”
Tempest shrugs one shoulder. “It was good. Or I thought it was. She kinda pulled the plug early.”
“But it felt like it was going well?”
“Completely. So I don’t know what to think. We’ve been texting, though.”
“Hmm.” He bites his lower lip as he thinks. “Maybe she was doing that thing where you give yourself a firm out time so you don’t do anything stupid.”
“What? Why? She said she promised Spencer she’d help him move.”
“So maybe she really did promise Spencer she’d help him move,” Landon says.
Tempest cocks her head. “Why would she do that if she knew we were gonna get drinks?”
“Because she wanted to make sure she didn’t do anything dumb.”
“Hanging out with me is dumb?”
“No, but getting drunk and moving too fast is.”
Tempest frowns at this.
“Whatever,” she says. “What about you?”
Landon scrunches up his face. “What about me?”
“Any ladies?”
He hesitates for a few seconds. “Nope. Not really.”
“What does ‘not really’ mean?”
“Nothing. There was someone, kind of, but…” He shakes his head. “Never mind.”
“She shut it down?” Tempest asks.
“No. It never even got off the ground,” he says glumly. Suddenly he hops down from the counter. “Think this is ready yet?”
“I think it’s supposed to beep or something,” she says.
“Whatever. I bet it’s fine.” Landon begins to grab mugs from the upper cupboard, while Tempest stands back, watching him skeptically.

After dinner and dessert, the Fishers and their guests swirl through the house, some holding cups of coffee or tea. When Jason finishes his own coffee, he goes into the living room, where he finds Sophie overseeing Billy as he draws in a coloring book.
“You can’t make the bananas blue!” she orders him.
The boy looks up from his work. “Why not?”
“Because bananas are yellow!”
“Sophie,” Jason says sternly. “Let Billy color however he wants.”
“Bananas are yellow, Dad,” she replies.
“They can be blue if he wants them to be. And it’s time for us to go. Go put on your coat. I’m going to go upstairs and get Peter.”
“If he’s already asleep, why do we have to go?” Sophie asks. “Can’t we just stay here?”
“Because there aren’t enough beds here, for starters. I’m just going to carry him out to the car, anyway. Now get your coat, please.”
Sophie harrumphs and gives Billy a final look. “Bananas shouldn’t be blue,” she says before going off to get her coat from the entryway.
Moments later, thunderous footsteps come rumbling down the stairs. Sarah and Matt come rushing in from the dining room.
“Where’s Peter?” Jason asks in a panic.
“What are you talking about?” Sarah says. “Didn’t you put him upstairs to sleep in Billy’s room?”
“He isn’t there.” Jason’s wild eyes scan the room, and then he goes storming into the dining room, where there is also no sign of the boy.
“Where is he?” he demands as heads turn. “Where is Peter?!”

I really like that Tori and Spencer are close. I mean, Spencer has always been somewhat of a douche bag, but he has changed since the fall down the stairs and in this case with Peter, he does have every right to be pissed off, especially after hearing Jason and Natalie chatting about working together, so it’s nice that he has someone in his corner. I know it wasn’t the right time, but I had wished Tori had told him about the baby. She too needs more people in her corner, but I suppose there’s always another time for that!
I love that Landon is still pining away for Tori. I just hope this baby doesn’t scare him off too much, although I can’t say I’d blame him if it did.
Sophie continues to be a riot! She reminds me of Ciara before they aged her on Days. She will be such a fun teen to write for when she gets to that age!
