SUMMARY
Diane’s younger sister grew up as a spoiled gymnast. There was no love lost between the Bishop sisters. After her divorce from a wealthy businessman, Natalie turned up in King’s Bay with a business proposal for her sister: to publish a memoir written by her fiancée, Julian St. John. Diane resisted at first, but the offer was too lucrative. However, Ryan Moriani wanted to squash the book for personal reasons, and he lured Julian to Las Vegas to set him up with another publisher. Natalie tagged along, planning to elope with Julian, but once he signed with the other publisher, he broke up with Natalie. She blames Ryan for ruining her relationship.
Natalie developed a contentious relationship with Bree’s figure skating coach, widower Jason Fisher, but their sparring eventually turned to flirting and romance. When Natalie learned that she was pregnant, Jason invited her and Bree to move in with him and his daughter. Natalie gave birth to a son, whom they named Peter. What Jason didn’t know was that, around the time she conceived, Natalie had also slept with his nephew, Spencer. As she and Jason got engaged and planned a wedding, Natalie became desperate to keep her secret, even rigging a paternity test to throw Spencer off the scent. When he caught on to her games, they argued, resulting in Spencer falling down a staircase. He languished in a coma and awoke with no memory of the incident, nor of the fact that he was Peter’s father.
Natalie’s scheming went into overdrive. She paid nurse Sonja Kahele to feed Spencer subliminal messages that would keep his memory from returning, and she let Sonja think that she’d been hired not by Natalie, but by Loretta Ragan. The plan began to fall apart when Sonja visited Loretta in prison, which tipped off Loretta to Natalie’s machinations and ultimately caused Peter’s true parentage to be exposed during Natalie and Jason’s wedding. Spencer regained his memory, and Jason left Natalie at the altar.
Fearing he’d never have access to his son, Spencer impulsively kidnapped Peter. He then panicked about legal repercussions, so he contacted attorney Elly Vanderbilt, who summoned Natalie and brokered a deal: Spencer wouldn’t accuse Natalie of pushing him down the stairs, and Natalie would help cover up the kidnapping. Spencer and Natalie entered into a marriage of convenience to gain custody of Peter, though Jason soon challenged them with a custody suit. Natalie was shocked when Jason arrived late for the hearing — and even more so when a P.I. presented photos insinuating that he’d been having an affair with Alex Marshall. The judge awarded custody to Natalie and Spencer, and after Jason punched out Spencer in front of witnesses, his appeal was thrown out, too. Jason sadly conceded and vowed to move on with his life. Spencer proposed ending the marriage of convenience, but Natalie, who’d grown accustomed to the lavish trappings of being his wife, wanted to stall. They were shocked when Loretta, fresh out of prison, showed up on their doorstep — and blackmailed Natalie into letting her stay in their home.
