STORYLINE HISTORY
Overachiever Molly, the second child of Bill and Paula Fisher, dreamed of a career in fashion. She was elated when she scored an entry-level job at a design firm called Charlene Powers, and even more so when things between her and coworker Craig Simmons turned romantic. However, she began receiving threats from a stalker. In the course of trying to track down the stalker, police commander Brent Taylor — who was involved with Molly’s sister, Sarah — developed feelings for Molly, and she began to feel similarly for him. A desperate Sarah caught them in a kiss and swiftly maneuvered Brent into eloping. Molly accepted Craig’s marriage proposal, only to discover that he was also her stalker, manipulating her to keep her close. Craig was killed in a final showdown.
She continued to fight her feelings for Brent and dated both Brian Hamilton and Eric Westin, though neither relationship turned serious. When Brent discovered he wasn’t the father of Sarah’s child, he left her, and although it took time, Molly and Brent gave in to their feelings. They married in a surprise New Year’s Eve ceremony at the start of 2005, and later that year, Molly gave birth to twin boys, whom they named Caleb and Christian.
Molly had also begun working for a popular designer named Camille Lemieux, who took Molly with her when she started her own company, Objection Designs. When Camille was killed in an explosion caused by Nick Moriani, she left the company to Molly, who became Chief Creative Officer and tackled the challenge of overseeing a fashion company. In the same explosion, Brent suffered injuries that caused his leg to be amputated below the knee, and he became fixated on finding the person who’d helped Nick carry out his final revenge plot. As Brent and Claire devoted themselves to their investigation, they put their families in danger, and Molly and Brent found their marriage on rocky ground. The ultimate culprit was discovered to be Loretta Ragan, mother of Objection’s new photographer, Philip. After Molly and Brent were unable to mend their rift and divorced, she began dating Philip.
Philip planned to propose to Molly, but after he covered up a car crash that his adoptive brother, Spencer, had caused, Molly felt she couldn’t trust Philip and broke things off with him. Soon afterward, the Footprint Killer’s murder spree began; Molly’s half-brother, Ryan, and father, Bill, were among the victims. When the killer turned out to be Philip, attempting to terrorize Molly so that he could “protect” her, Paula Fisher shot and killed him. Paula fainted and awoke with no memory of the shooting. Feeling guilt over bringing Philip into their lives, Molly impulsively lied and claimed to have shot Philip. She stood trial and was nearly convicted until Paula regained her memory and confessed. She received one year’s probation for her role in the cover-up.
Molly had developed a friendship with her attorney, Conrad Halston, and after he was injured in a car accident, she insisted that he stay with her to recuperate. In the process, they fell for one another and began a relationship. But teenage Caleb became mixed up with a drug ring, which caused Molly and Brent to be kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a car. When the car was set on fire, they were sure they were going to die and confessed their love for one another and their regrets over having not worked harder to save their marriage. Although they survived, Molly was unable to forget the closeness, so she ended things with Conrad; she and Brent impulsively slept together, which resulted in Molly becoming pregnant and Claire breaking up with Brent.
When she went into labor after a difficult pregnancy, the doctor told Molly and Brent that their infant son had died — but they were unaware that Loretta Ragan had paid off the doctor to lie to them and that their daughter was very much alive and being fostered by Molly’s nephew, Travis, and Rosie Jimenez. Molly felt drawn to the little girl, who was named Gabrielle, and was arrested for assaulting the doctor when she demanded answers about the birth from him. This resulted in her being placed on leave from her job at Objection Designs. The doctor died by suicide and left behind a letter informing Molly and Brent that their child was a girl and had lived, and after a DNA test, Molly and Brent sued Travis and Rosie — who were officially adopting Gabrielle — for custody. The legal battle caused deep rifts in the Fisher family. Molly and Brent remarried in 2023 in a backyard ceremony with their sons and Gabrielle present, during a court-supervised visit with the little girl. When a desperate Rosie fled for the Canadian border with Gabrielle, Travis convinced her to accept the inevitable, and they tearfully handed Gabrielle over to Molly and Brent, who worked to integrate Gabrielle into their family.
Soon afterward, Molly caught wind of an attempt to oust her from Objection Designs permanently and rallied the board to stand behind her. She emerged victorious and reclaimed her position at the company.
